The Bible mentions the word “city” over 1200 times. Cities are important to God. To quote Ray Bakke, “The work of redemption began in a garden and ends in a city”. The Kingdom of God is touching earth in a variety of ways any moment of any day within the city. The Father’s business is rich and diversified. There are various “departments” within His business that are doing wonderful things. Our desire is to bring these movements of transformation together, to meet, share, listen and learn from one another for greater Kingdom impact.

We are holding “Conversations” in various cities throughout Southern California in 2010 to create these opportunities to gather, share, listen, learn, and pray for one another. Each hosting city will share the stories in their context that will spark our conversation together. We can imagine isolated efforts of community ministry connecting for greater impact and support. We can imagine people of prayer becoming more informed on things happening in the city and taking these to the throne room of grace. We can imagine different methods of community transformation being shared resulting in new, creative ideas. We can imagine each city uniting in a more strategic effort. Will you join us?

Although we are highlighting Long Beach stories, we welcome individuals and teams from other cities to join in the conversation so that we may learn together.

This gathering is geared for practitioners who are involved in any form of community ministry via:
  • Prayer – prayer leaders, facilitators who gather people of prayer in their city, congregational prayer leaders, people of prayer who are praying for their city.
  • City-Reaching – Those who gather congregations in unity around specific community projects, city leaders groups, pastor groups, those who lead in evangelistic efforts in the city, those who apply their Christian lifestyle in the marketplace or in other spheres of influence.
  • Community Development – those who are living a missional lifestyle in a specific neighborhood, community builders and organizers, people who are passionate about specific justice issues related to the city, people who are walking with people in their own individual development.
